Betnovate Cream

Betnovate cream contains the steroid medication betamethasone valerate. It is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as eczema, rashes, and dermatitis. Being a steroid based cream Eumovate is used to treat swelling, itching and irritation of the skin.

Who cannot use Betnovate?

• Are trying to get pregnant or already are pregnant.
• Have a skin infection.
• Have acne or rosacea.
• If you have had a previous allergic reaction to Betnovate
• Have an eye infection.
• Have broken skin, cuts or itchy skin that is not inflamed or red.
• If you are breastfeeding.

Within the skin cells Betnovate stops the release of inflammatory substances and by doing so reduces swelling, itching and redness associated with eczema. Betnovate is the preferred option when other medicines have not worked.

The usual dosage of Betnovate cream is to apply sparingly twice a day for no more than 7 days. With steroid creams the amount to use is usually indicated as the fingertip unit amount. One fingertip unit amount is from the top of your index finger to the first bend/crease. A single fingertip unit amount covers an area roughly double the size of the palm on your hand.
