Cerazette Tablets

Cerazette is a progesterone only contraceptive pill to prevent pregnancy. With Cerazette being a progesterone only pill it is safe in women who are breastfeeding and cannot tolerate oestrogen combination birth control pills.

Who cannot take Cerazette?

• If you have or suspected of having cancer such as breast cancer
• If you have a thrombosis (blood clot in a blood vessel)
• If you have had a previous allergic reaction to Cerazette
• If you have or had jaundice or a severe liver disease
• If you have any unexplained vaginal bleeding.

Cerazette works by stopping your ovaries from releasing an egg each month. It increases the thickness of mucus at the neck of the womb this makes it exceedingly difficult for sperm cells to cross from the vagina into the womb. Cerazette also thins the womb lining (endometrium) making it more difficult for fertilised eggs to implant.

The tablets are taken daily as a single dose preferably at the same time each day. There is no 7 day pill free period. Please follow your doctors or pharmacist’s advice before taking this medication.
